Press Release: Sherry Chen Continues Quest for Justice After Favorable Ruling: Community Organizations Rally

Commun​ity Letter from 132 community organizations to Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross.  The letter calls for Secretary Ross to (a) comply with the MSPB decision and immediately allow Sherry Chen to go back to work and (b) initiate a full investigation by the Inspector General into the handling of Ms. Chen’s case for possible racial bias, abuse of power, violation of due process, and lack of efficiency.

CAPAC Letter to Department of Commerce Inspector General.  The Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) calls for a full and independent investigation of Ms. Chen’s case to examine the actions taken against her and to determine if corrective actions need to be taken across the Department of Commerce.

SPONSOR: Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC)

Purpose:  CAPAC held a press conference to call on the Department of Justice to investigate the recent cases against Sherry Chen, Xiaoxing Xi and Chinese American scientists who were wrongfully suspected of economic espionage.  The press conference came one day before a CAPAC meeting with Attorney General Loretta Lynch.

Purpose: After the New York Times reported on the dismissal of Sherry Chen's criminal case on May 9, 2015, CAPAC convened the press conference and called for the Department of Justice to investigate, including a joint letter to Attorney General Loretta Lynch.  Asian American community organizations were also present and spoke about their concerns of racial profiling.​​
